Climate crisis

http://www.ted.com/talks/al_gore_s_new_thinking_on_the_climate_crisis.html

Al Gore uses urgent vocabulary that grasps the audiences’ attention. He informs the audience of the negative role we play that is killing our environment and gives solutions to fix this crisis. I found myself at first not caring about this argument and trying to finish up this assignment, but after listening to the whole speech I became engaged. Gore made some persuasive arguments that were accurate and logical. One example was the continent Antarctica. Researchers have found that there has been a rapid decrease in the amount of snow covering the continent due to the increase of high temperature caused by pollution. Another argument he stated that is logical is the fact that our government has not made this problem as serious as it is. I agree with his argument because he uses visuals that show us how we are effecting our world around us.
Gore does acknowledge the challenges that confront President Obama and recognizes the climate-friendly efforts Obama has made, such as the improvements in fuel-efficiency standards for automobiles and for instructing EPA to “move forward on the regulation of global-warming pollution under the Clean Air Act”. But despite this Gore says Obama has failed to present “bold action on climate change” and that Obama has only “slightly” moved the country forward on the climate issue .

Kind of Bloop

The use of the material has been copied, but not verbatim it was changed into something new by using the author's new way of material. If the author cited the parts of work from the original author then it would favor more along of fair use. The amount and credibility of the work used - a rule of thumb is that the less of the original work used, the more likely it is that the use will be considered fair. However, if a small portion of credit is recognized then the factor may fall in against a fair use lawsuit. Furthermore, this blog is used for an educational use to inform other people how not to commit the same accident that occurred with Baio. There are limitations to how much work one author can obtain from another author and use it in their work without giving the credit that is due. Albeit an author may give it their own little twist, it is important to include where it originated from, especially if you’re making money from it. Moreover, the section about the Miles Davis pictures asking which cover I believe is fair use, I would say all of the pictures because the title is not included the original cover; but if I had to choose one it would be the third cover on the left because that is where you can barely tell who the person is or what he is holding unless you had knowledge of the original album cover

smoking kills

Every eight seconds someone's life is ceased due to smoking tobacco. Smoking does not only hurt you,it hurts the people around you also. Second hand smoke can cause cancer just from being exposed to the tanted air. We are all aware of what it does to our body ,but people like Bryan, the man in this video, ignore the high risk of death they put themselves in everytime they inhale the toxics from tobacco. His friends and family were in mourn after his death. For some backwards reasoning his friends went to have a smoke after being a witness of how their friend suffered to death from smoking. The rapid deaths caused from smoking will not stop until people realize they're not only hurting themselves but they're the people around them who care and love them greatly. Due to Bryan’s early addiction his wife and son now have to miss out on having a father and a husband. I feel it is selfish of people to smoke knowing the risk. Smoking destorys our Earth by polluting it and it seize people away from their family and friends. Life is shorter enough as it is! I am clueless upon the fact why people are not mentally strong and intelligent enough to say no to smoking . There is nothing appealing about it. It smells disgusting and scientist has given more than enough information of consequences of those who smoke. The one “good” thing is that it helps cope with stress . The value of life is plenty reason not to depend on smoking to cope with stress because that moment of relief is not worth the suffering yourself and everyone around you has to deal with.

hasty generalization

This image describes a logical fallacy called hasty generalization. It's when someone draws a conclusion without providing enough supporting evidence according to ENVISION IN DEPTH. The dog has concluded a theory of all things with four legs is cat. There are various types of animals with four legs that is not a cat. The author of this image is inferring that the dog has not observed another animal with four legs except a cat. Therefore the dog thinks they’re the same. Although the dog had four legs similar to the cat it is impossible to assume a hypothesis as such. The image portrays the dog to be questioning itself and the way the picture is drawn could be taken in consideration also. The author makes the image childlike, drawing it as if it were a comic book. I think the author is referring to young children taking in the scope of the world. For example when a parent is showing their children the sound and the way an animal looks the child may say, “a dog says meow", just as they would say for a cat. This exemplifies how inexperienced animals and people assume all things with similar features are alike until they are exposed to the reality of the world and are able to begin distinguishing the differences of things. Moreover, the dog is questioning itself because it realizes the cat looks nothing like it but has no other evidence to think otherwise of its hypothesis because it has not seen anything that has the same characteristics as itself but the cat.

Fairy tale use

This video exposes the negative consequences of plagiarism. It also explains that any amount of copying is wrong. There are a few exceptions that may cause people to use information used from the resource they're observing. Albeit there are minimum exceptions to copying, some people use it as their own work which is illegal. In essence it is stealing when people plagiarize because they're taking something they're not entitled to have.
